I Challenge You to Sing Like No One Is Watching

If you haven’t tried this already, blast one of your favorite songs the next time you’re driving alone in your car. Choose a song you love to sing along with, even if you don’t know the words.

When I do this, I go as far as mumbling really loud or making up my own words. I also dance to it, moving my arms and shoulders. It’s one of the best feelings.

Once, someone I know told me she saw me in traffic, singing at the top of my lungs. She tried to wave me down from her car, but we were side by side, and I was so in tune with the music that I never noticed her.

She said,

“All I wanted to know was what song you were listening to.”

Looking back, I had a few guesses, but pinpointing the exact song would’ve been a miracle.

Why This Matters

I’m sharing this with you because you should experience it too.

Some of my most freeing moments happen when I am by myself, despite sometimes missing those I haven’t seen or spoken to in a while.

As I’ve been adulting, getting away from codependency, and focusing on myself, I’ve learned how to have fun alone.

I want you to know that’s okay.
